Get Ready for New Content: Deep Dive into On-Grid Systems
Get ready for new content next month! Our Solar Energy course is getting a major update with a deep dive into On-Grid systems. Existing students can access the new material as soon as it’s live.
Pro Installation Tips Beyond the Textbook
Based on real-world experience, system connection might look simple, but without “attention to detail,” it can become a nightmare:
- CT (Current Transformer) Installation: Understanding anti-backfeed wiring and managing complex sites where one meter splits into multiple buildings is crucial.
- Grounding is Heart: Many homes lack proper grounding. No matter how expensive your inverter is, without a solid ground system, a short circuit can destroy your equipment. Always verify or install a dedicated ground rod.
- Wiring and Protection: Solar cables should be in heat-resistant conduits. Sharp edges on metal enclosures must be protected with cable glands or grommets to prevent wire damage.
- Micro Inverters and Heat: A common mistake is installing them directly under panels on scorching roofs. We recommend shaded areas or adding cooling fans to significantly extend their lifespan.
- Choosing Equipment: Don’t fall for exaggerated claims in online stores. Many inverters don’t live up to their advertised specs. Experience is key in selecting reliable brands.
